Omid Law Firm

About Omid

Biography

Omid Haghighat is the founder of Omid Law Firm and a dedicated criminal defense attorney with more than 14 years of experience representing people accused of crimes. He has handled thousands of criminal cases ranging from DUIs and domestic violence allegations to homicide and serious sex offense cases. Over the course of his career, he has tried more than 30 cases to verdict and conducted hundreds of contested hearings, giving him the courtroom experience and strategic judgment clients need when everything is on the line.
At the heart of Omid’s practice is a client-centered approach to criminal defense. He believes people are more than the accusations against them, and that the best representation begins with understanding the full story of a person’s life, not just the police report or charging document. For Omid, effective defense means looking beyond the surface, uncovering the context behind the allegations, and presenting each client as a whole person. That approach not only strengthens the defense, but also helps courts and prosecutors see what is too often overlooked.
Omid is also deeply committed to helping restore lives, not just resolve cases. He understands that many people come into contact with the criminal justice system because of underlying struggles, trauma, addiction, mental health issues, or other life circumstances that have never been properly addressed. He works to identify those root causes and, when possible, use them as part of a broader strategy to pursue the best possible outcome while helping clients move forward with dignity and stability.
Before founding Omid Law Firm, Omid served in the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office, where he represented clients in misdemeanor, felony, and juvenile matters. He later became Deputy in Charge of the Central Juvenile Branch, where he supervised, mentored, and trained newer attorneys. In 2016, he was honored with the Judy Schecter Juvenile Attorney of the Year Award in recognition of his outstanding work and commitment to juvenile defense.
Omid’s passion for criminal defense is rooted in what he has seen firsthand: a system that too often prosecutes and incarcerates people unfairly, especially those without access to strong and committed representation. He sees his role as both shield and advocate, standing between his clients and the full force of the criminal justice system, fighting to protect their rights, their freedom, and their future.
Omid Law Firm is not just named after its founding attorney. In Farsi, “Omid” means hope. That meaning reflects the firm’s mission: to bring hope to people caught in what can feel like a hopeless situation, and to fight for a path forward when the stakes are highest.
